What address can I send a letter and a book? I would love to send you a letter to ask a few questions, and an autographed copy of The Giver would make me so happy!

My Name is Annie Hindes.

I attend 5th grade in Portland, OR. I'm in Mr. Bennett's class. Our school is Roseway Heights located at 7334 NE Siskiyou St. 97213

I read Taking Care of Terrific. It was a terrific book! My favorite part was when Enid Crowley and Joushua W. Cameron IV decided to change their names to Cynthia Crowley and Tom Terrific!
One part I didn't like about the book was that Julia Simpson Forbes was rich because if she was so rich than she should have had nicer clothes! However, I did love how Enid was the perfect babysitter with ordering pizza and giving bubble baths. She really made sure Joshua had the best time possible!
I really enjoy all of your books but this one was definitely the best! I look forward to reading more of your books in the future!

Hi Lois,

I wanted to send an email but could not find an email address to send it too.

I just finished reading Son. In the past when I have finished a book I would sometimes react by sighing happily, grumbling, complaining to the first person who would listen or even exclaiming outloud, "That's it?!" as in the case of The Giver (which I still loved). However, this morning after reading Son, I first cheered and then sobbed. Really I don't think I have ever sobbed with joy! This may not touch everyone this way but for this proud mom of six, I felt IT. Really, really loved it. Would love to have you sign my book but as I am in England...I am not sure how I would pay you for the return postage. Let me know what the process is if you are happy to do this. :-) Above all, THANK YOU! for the joy you have brought to me this morning.

Dear Mrs.Lowry
Hi, I am a 6th grader and my class just read your book "The Giver". After reading it I have some questions I want to ask and if you can answer them. I want to know how in the past did they take away the memories. I also want to know how did the Community make the people's eyes not see colors. The releasing of people made me think of euthanasia. Other than those questions I really like the book. I liked this book so much I went ahead and read the other books in the series.
Reader,
Nina Ni

I have been reading your "The Giver" series and have almost finished "Son". I feel compelled to tell you that you've had me in tears so many times! I love these books and I feel so connected, like you've written about my son! You even got his name right! Gabriel, who we call Gabe for short...lol He has the same characteristics as the Gabe in your story, minus the veering. He is very special though in that he seems to be a little bit psychic and he sometimes sees spirits. There are also incidents when he seems to get visions of something we haven't figured out yet. Maybe he's looking 'beyond'...lol Anyhow, I just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying this series and I wonder how it will end. Can't wait to find out!!! Gabe read "The Giver" in school and really enjoyed it as well, by the way. I'm sure he's going to love "Son"!

Hi, Ms. Lowry. Today, I received a wonderful gift, an autographed copy of The Giver from one of my English 9 Honors students. But truly, the greatest gift is the love my kids have for your novel. I look forward to teaching the novel every year and for the discourses I have each year. The Giver comes alive in my room through my kids and knowing one of them knows how passionate I am about Jonas and his journey is incredibly wonderful. Thank you for Jonas and for the passion created in English 9. Terri Baker

My 4th grade class started your book on our school's "History Day". My students agree with Annemarie--a year is too long to go without cupcakes! We like your idea of writing historical fiction about World War II--what an interesting time. We also like how you incorporated facts into your story. We just started learning about World War II yesterday, and hope to finish reading your book!

Lois,
I have not yet read your book, "The Giver" but saw the write-up in the WSJ this morning. It sounds like a great story and I will pick-up a copy. Your comment about "the best way (for children) to prepare for the world they face is to present them with the possibilities...and let them be scared of what might happen." is right on target. You should not over protect them....which seems to be the desire of many people today. The irony of so many conservatives desire for censorship is also quite fascinating given their desire for less regulation from the government.

The quote from your book, "When people choose, they choose wrong" also resonates. Much of my passion revolves around helping companies find more effective ways to improve. I have written several books on the topic...none of which have changed the world yet. But that has not stopped my writing. Our next book (interestingly given your quote) is "the Power of Choices."

Companies that are highly effective at improving seem to march toward a common vision. They try to create an environment where 'people can make better decisions, more quickly.' Elite companies try to get as many people as possible operating this way to they promote experimentation, learning and sharing of knowledge.

If you have an environment like this it helps to remove fear of failure or rejection, but unlike the protectionist environment in the giver (I'm assuming) there is also a rigorous attempt to more deeply understand the current reality and to more easily see what is not working, what needs to be improved.

No need for a response, I simply enjoyed reading the WSJ article by Mr. Ahmari.
Best wishes,
Michael Bremer

I have a book I have written that I would like to send you. It is in the pre-publishing stage. I have never published before but I feel my book is pretty syncronized with a lot of your work. The book is titled 'Not For Sale - Finding Myself in the Land of Crazy Horse' and it cronicles my experiences on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
My contact information is; Kevin Hancock, Khancock@hancocklumber.com, 4 Edes Falls Road Casco, Maine 04015. Thank you!
