I've not posted here for a while, mainly because I have been so much on the road. This past week, I was first in Raleigh, NC, where in addition to a wonderful event at Quail Ridge Books, I got to see and visit with a stepson, his wife, and daughter. From there to Chapel Hill and Flyleaf Books---a new and terrific independent bookstore---where I got to see old friend Barbara Cameron and her daughter Maggie (they were way at the back of a long signing line. When it was their turn, I asked, "Doesn't being old pals entitle you to a place at the front of the line?"  "Apparently not," grumbled Maggie, age 8)

Next, Miami for two days and two appearances: one at a gorgeous historic church where schoolchildren were bussed in; then at yet one more outstanding independent bookstore: Books & Books,  where lo and behold, my daughter appeared, with friends.

Here I am with her on, if I remember correctly, her 50th birthday in 2008:

She lives in San Francisco but was in Miami for a few days and came to Books & Books with a group of her friends.

Hare to believe she is 53! Here she is at age 4 (I remember I was pregnant with my fourth child (she was the oldest) when I took this snapshot:

And age fifteen:

And here I am in Miami, talking with a fan:

Needing my hair combed, I see! A friend of my daughter's took this photo while I was signing a book for his wife, Ann, and son, Henry.

From Miami I went on to Tampa, and yet one more wonderful place: Inkwood Books; and from Tampa back home that Night, Sunday. Here I am for a few days and then off to Philadelphia Thursday. But this time---in addition to two book-signings, one in Haverford Thursday night, one at Barnes & Noble in Exton, PA Saturday at 11 AM) it is to see the play "Gossamer" and Martin will be with me for one day, along with nephew Michael and his wife, Cindy. So Philadelphia will be fun. And I will comb my hair more often.

A friend in Maine has sent me this photo of my house when the daffodils are in bloom. I always miss them so it is a treat to have this picture (Thanks, Lucia!)

I have some of those moments myself. And to tell you the truth, I don't think I'd want to read a book about them.

I grinned at your recent blog post, then scrolled down to read which book and author had gotten you into the trouble. Not that you'll want to invest any more money in Nora Ephron's latest, but I thought I had experienced the same thing with her last book...and then I checked out the CD version from the library. Hearing Nora Ephron read her own books, including the new one, is a huge treat...much more rewarding than the thin nature of the printed page, in this case. I just spent three days of commuting listening to the lastest, and I loved it...am sad to not have her voice and stories on my drive home tonight!
