A long time ago someone told me that when, as a student,  he applied to become a member of The Harvard Lampoon (HU's humor publication) and was interviewed (and was accepted, incidentally), he was asked what word he thought was funny. That's right: word.

I don't recall what word he chose.

But it did make me ponder what word I would chose, if asked the same question. My choice: torso.

I have mentioned that to people who said, "Huh?"  Wasn't at all funny to them.

Go figure.  Chacun a son gout.

Anyway: why mention it now (or ever)?  Well, this morning I was doing the NYT crossword puzzle, one of the ways I waste time every morning.  And one of the answers (spoiler, if you haven't done the puzzle yet: 24-across) was pontiff.

I think pontiff is a very funny word.

Sorry.

I've got a house I oogle like that, too. And I'm pleased to report that the current owners are taking very good care of it for me.
(Does this mean we're cottage-stalkers?)

Indeed it does.
And MY owner is not as attentive as I'd like. It's worrisome.

Hi, Lois - I remember discussing Miss Marple with you last year. We're going to England and Scotland next month and I we have been researching quintessential English villages to visit. I'm sure I'll be mentally moving into many cottages.
