Ah, Paree....I never made it to the city of lights, but not for lack of trying. I was on board an overnight train from Switzerland to Spain with a stop-over in Paris--alone and with little time to spare.
"Passports see-vu-play" I handed over my passport, the man looked at my document, turned it, shook it, licked his finger and rubbed it... (trouble)
He left the train and returned with two friends, (more trouble)
Their funny uniforms and their funny accents amused me. Not for long. I was held for several hours, without a "phone call" It was now getting scary. I tried speaking to them in four different languages but they refused to hear anything but French ( I switched French to German in school because I did not like Madam.....teacher) They released me without explanation, but refused to let me through. I ended up in a street in Lausanne sharing a bottle of wine with two kind Italians ( they said I looked harmless) who gave me a ride back to Switzerland in their car. That night I swore, no matter how lovely, I would not set foot in the city of lights... that was 1981. Bon Boyash Lo-eese. Hope you have a great time.

Lo-eese, I laughed all the way through your story. Expedia is a Nightmare! I had to call them twice last month and they joyfully told me I was out a large sum of money. I guess I should be glad they didn't call me Kree-sta.
Ojimenez- Our family had the best time in Lausanne. There is a very kind man that rents boats along Lake Geneva.

We just booked our flight to Paris, too. Actually, we just have an 8 hour stop over to see the main stuff, and then we're headed to Madrid. Any Paris must-sees besides the tower? We also booked through Air France - hope we like them!

Oh gosh, 8 hours is much too short a time to spend in Paris! You must go back and spend at least a week.
