...but don't take it personally.

It's come to this. Sob.  Alfie, whose (monogrammed) bed is at the foot of mine, declined even to climb the stairs last night at bedtime.

He wanted to sleep with his visiting German Shepherd friend, Sophie, who was occupying a downstairs guest room.

They met as puppies (see photo) and have been buddies every since. Now, at 3 years old, Sophie towers over Alfie.  But last night they curled up together like the old friends they are,  And I, sob, slept alone.

I LOVE the "Alfie, getting to know Kuzo" picture. Thanks for sharing.

Alfie is an adorable dog! Kuzo is a cute name for a bird too!

I got a message from the LC about the National Book Festival, I wish I'd been there to get a book signed. I listened to your interview on my computer while making breakfast and nearly burned the flap jacks! The poor fellow who conducted the interview did not seem very well prepared. I don't think he was very familiar with the subject he was asked to interview. You certainly saved the interview by taking charge of it with your answers. I felt badly for the interviewer. Perhaps he should have prepared himself better by reading your bio on your website and familiarizing himself with your work.
Cheers!

I, too, was in D.C. for the book festival and felt the same way. Not only was I impressed with the number of people, I had renewed hope with the number of children who wanted to connect with authors...wanted to connect with the stories that were now their stories.
After hearing you talk about Crow Call, I was moved to go out and get it. To say that I was not disappointed would be an understatement. I read it late last night and couldn't sleep for the poetic lines that continued to ramble through my head and the illustrations that spoke your words. I kept playing through my head about the one line that led you to write this story.
It may be time to revisit my "one line" collected thoughts.
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story that is truly a story for all!

I love Alfie's haircut it looks great on a Tibetan Terrier. I think Kuzo is gorgeous... I wish I had a parrot or a dog.
